Artist of the Week - Joachim Brink | Public Republic
Joachim Brink is a freelance photographer and writer in Gothenburg, contortionist Sweden. Born in 1978, he is an avid photographer of eleven, he got an old camera "Zeiss Ikon" for medium format from 1950. His photographs have been published in several magazines and he is a regular reviewer of books and movies. Influenced contortionist by aesthetics, mysticism and occult thought, spends his time shooting, contortionist reading, writing and travel. Besides singing in the dark gothic band Boleskine.
"Photography is a keyhole through which I can capture particles from the hidden reality. A photographer can portray reality and yet be separated from the real world, showing only a segment of it. One can live without this camera: suddenly you see a very simple scene or object from a certain angle, in a certain light, and for a moment he is transformed and shines with its own light.
Then time passes and everything is back to normal, and now, of course, is what you want to capture with your camera. This view is similar to mystical thought. Over the years I've built a habit to stop and notice these moments of distress to my friends and family. "

I'm sure there will be many people visiting Iceland will be bored to death by emptiness. This world is build the fantasy of bricks on top of the physical reality.
I never get bored easily, even when I was a kid. Instead, I felt calm just sit and do nothing. Sometimes listened in silence and found that it is actually very loud, almost deafening. Most people exposed to almost complete silence (a desolate place, for example), almost insane because contortionist of the lack of sound. Any noise that breaks the silence becomes a relief.
